2.6 Facilitator

Educators facilitate learning with technology to support achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students.

“Technology will not replace great teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational.” – George Couros

This standard is very straightforward. While it does require that the teacher know something about different technologies, I think it is nice that it does not require the teacher to be an expert, only a facilitator. Students today are pretty adept at learning something new, and educators should feel no shame in telling students, ”We will be learning this new tool together.” In a blog post titled, ”The Mind’s Playground,” I discuss one specific resource, Seesaw, which a lot of teachers already use for helping younger students to work with technology.
