…educators, leaders and students to make informed decisions to protect their personal data and curate the digital profiles they intend to reflect.
As a digital leader, it is critical that I am not one to be easily swayed into providing personal information online which might be harmful to my bank account, and my identity, but also to my integrity. I want students and educators to be mindful also and it would be hypocritical of me to ”preach” being mindful of one’s “digital profile” and protecting oneself if I am being frivolous with my digital person. Students (and teachers) need to be reminded that they have a choice in how they present themselves online. As part of a project on digital citizenship related to ISTE 7, I discussed digital citizenship with the leader of a school to better understand how schools tend to view digital citizenship. That post is titled, ”Updating to Avoid Being Outdated.”
